Read on for top tips for the 6 Nations Rugby at BT Murrayfield.

What is the Guiness 6 Nations rugby tournament?

The Six nations rugby tournament is held every year in February & March. This features teams from France, Italy, Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland. The Scottish Rugby team host their home games at the BT Murrayfield stadium. This is a great venue and also a great showcase for 6 nations Rugby. The BT Murrayfield stadium has a capacity of 67,144 and these games sell out quickly with many people taking these tickets as a combined ticket package resulting in fewer single ticket availability.

What is the town like when Scotland have home games?

On the weekends that Scotland have their home games Edinburgh city centre is always buzzing. It is so busy that Hotels, restaurants and pubs are brimming. If you need a hotel or B&B our advice is to try to book these early as prices rise to more than double a normal weekend room rate. This can see even budget hotels such as Travelodge or PremierInn command more than£200 for one night. For tips on where to stay check out our advice on Edinburgh hotels.

In terms of atmosphere there is friendly crack between both sets of fans. For 2019 the BT Murrayfield games all kick off early with 2.15pm kick offs and this means that there will be another game televised later that day. How to Get There?

The BT Murrayfield stadium is a 15 minute walk from Haymarket Train station or a 30 minute walk from the west end of Princess street (although this can take slightly longer when walking in large crowds to and from the stadium).

There is a also a tram stop at the stadium. Tickets cost £1.70 for a single (based on prices at Jan-19). The tram goes between York place in the city centre all the way to the airport so there are plenty of places/tram stops to get on at.

If you are coming from Edinburgh airport there is an additional charge making the single ticket price £6 or the return ticket price £8.50. Other options if you are driving by car is to park at the Ingliston park and ride and take the tram into the stadium.

Just make sure to purchase or validate your ticket before you get on the tram and be patient when leaving as the trains and trams will have large queues to get on.
